When in Launceston we love to stay in and around the CBD. Allowing us to have a central base, whilst being only a short walk to the waterfront (10-15min). As well as taking advantage of being close to the surrounds.
Why stay in Launceston?
With Launceston is the second city largest city in Tasmania, there is plenty to discover in and around the CBD. As an example, if it’s art, nature or a historical walk, the CBD is in close proximity. Take the From Albert to Victoria Historical Walk, explore Queen Victoria Art Gallery or take in the natural splendours of ‘The Gorge’. Peppers Silo Hotel
The Silo Hotel is one of the newest hotels in Launceston, situated on the banks of the Tamar River. Parking is available at the hotel and it’s an easy walk to the seaport area and CBD. Within the hotel you will also discover a, spa, hairdresser and beautician, as well as a 24hr gym for those that like a daily workout. The hotel also has the benefit of being a short walk to anywhere we wish to visit around the city.
Whilst, this is a top pick for us being part of the ALL-Accor Live Limitless group. Thus allowing us to take advantage of our points or pay system. The features, luxurious décor, quality of service and meals provided at Grain of the Silos make it well worth an inclusion into the best luxury stays in Launceston.
Their rooms are beautifully appointed with several options depending on your budget, for couples & families. All rooms have FREE WIFI, a small fridge with tea & coffee facilities & room service. Many rooms overlook the Tamar river and some are housed in the original silos.
Situated within the hotel is one of the delicious restaurants around Launceston, the Grain of the silo. Here you can book breakfast lunch or dinner, with a café offering light meals, snacks and beverages during the day. Hotel Verge Launceston
At the time of writing the Hotel Verge was the newest of the best luxury stays in Launceston built. Situated across from Albert Hall this hotel has embraced the areas early industrial precinct, which is reflected in much of the design.
Richly decorated to showcase the contemporary structure and luxury industrial design. Featuring well-appointed spacious rooms, incorporating the industrial design into the décor to compliment the theme of the hotel.
The Diverge restaurant within the hotel offers a season menu for both breakfast and dinner. Alternatively, you can just relax at the bar with a drink. If coming on a weekend you will find Harvest Launceston next door on a Saturday. So, you can select some local Tasmanian produce take home or continue your travels.

Peppers Seaport
The hotel sits at the bend where the North and South Esk River meets in Launceston’s Seaport precinct. Which was built on the site of an old dry dock, the hotel itself is a contemporary design of a ship. Fitting with the precinct’s nautical surrounds.

The Old Federal Coffee Palace is boutique apartment, is set right in the CBD, a contemporary décor set behind an 1888 façade, of a bygone era. Where coffee palaces were stately hotels offering non-alcoholic beverages, ballrooms, for middle and upper classes. Offering all the comforts of home, and car parking.
This apartment is decidedly one of the best luxury stays in Launceston and is an easy walk to many of the cafes, restaurants, and bars around Launceston. In addition to the gastronomical delights the apartment is situated in close proximity to many of Launceston’s areas of interest and history.

Art Hotel on York
Situated in what was once an old bakery (1870), the Art Hotel on York, is located in close proximity to Cataract Gorge and the surrounding area. Exceptionally decorated rooms, that exudes comfort and charm, housing an art gallery of Cristina Palacios, an emerging international artist, making this one of the best luxury stays in Launceston. The Waratah on York is a heritage listed, boutique hotel overlooking City Park. It’s rooms retain many of the orignal features present in a circa. 1863 building. This is one of the best luxury stays in Launceston offers a glimpse of a by gone era. High ceilings, decorative architraves and ceiling roses, with beautifully decorated appointments. A choice of standard, executive suites and a 3 bedroom apartment, some fitted with spa baths and full kitchen facilities.
Whilst on one of Launcestons hills surrounding the city, this boutique hotel is close to City Park, Design Tasmania, Boags Brewery and many other places of interest. In addition to being in an area close to some of the most delicious restaurants around Launceston.

These places are AMAZING!! Some of them are really just experiences themselves, must be so much fun to stay there. That definitely goes on my to see/to do list, LOVE it!
They are once we entered Seven we knew this was the ‘experience’ and The Silos with everything handy it truly is and experience in itself.
We never made it to Tasmania on our trip to Australia but when we go back it’s a priority- and Stillwater Seven built in a 180-year-old flour mill sounds exactly like a place I’d want to stay! Love historic character repurposed.
It is a wonderful place to visit and live, and Stillwater Seven is AMAZING…
